Hey everyone, like I said in the subject I'm new here... SO nice meeting y'all I'm Mark.
I've been into freshwater for quite a while, but had a small nano tank a few years back that was of moderate success so trying again, but bigger. So on with the build.. I've mad a rock wall, normal cement/foam diy 3d background. This is the 4th one I've made so far I believe. But I'm horrible at remembering to take photos... so yeah... lol!
here are the photos.. I can do a full write up if someone wants it.

side note, the top photo is from a previous build.. it jus shows the materials I used lol

Wow! That is awesome! And that is exactly what i want to do on my new build.

It would be great if you can attend a meeting and share some information on how you make those walls. Maybe even do a work shop of some type where we bring materials in and we all make a small wall just to go through the steps and process.

Very cool, look forward to seeing more updates!

Thanks Pola, I'd love to and intend on joining the next meeting. The workshop would be a bit difficult, due to the length of time between drying. I did however put some thought into the workshop idea, I could easily make 4 portions of the build, in each of its various steps, and then go over it that way if you'd like. Its quite simple to build the wall, however you spend a ton of time watching paint dry, so to speak.
But I'd be happy to help in any way possible!

Okay, So time for an update. I forgot to mention that I submerged that rock wall for 5 weeks in freshwater doing a 99 percent water change every other, to every 3rd day. Once I hit a steady PH level range from 7.8 to 8.4, I added saltwater, with a salinity of 1.025, I let that sit with power heads for 2 weeks, by that time it had finished its swings. I'm steady with a PH level of 7.9... I did another 99 percent water change, and added my live rock. I believe I'm in my cycle now, but I'm getting some strange readings.. I believe however its from the tiny bits of food I've added for the cycle, or a bad test kit.. I've got 0.25 - 0.50ppm ammonia with the colors being so close with the API Saltwater master kit, i have no clue, I also have 0.25ppm Nitrite, and 5 to 10ppm Nitrates (again colors are almost the same)
my nano prior to this, went in almost consecutive order with the cycle.. but could just be stuff from my dried out live rock.
anyhow thought I'd add a photo.

Are you planning on coming to the September meeting to talk about how you built your wall ? It would fit into the D.I.Y. theme of the meeting. Let me know please. It would be great to see you become a full club member also.
