Sorry guys I'm a complete noon and if it's already been asked I apologize for asking again. Anybody in here know how to convert sumps that have socks into ones that don't?

Why do you want to eliminate the sock. It removes a lot of "scrap" that would just go right back into your tank ?

Was hoping that there was a different alternative to replacing socks constantly

I'm not sure what you mean by converting it to a sockless sump, if you just take the sock out, your sump is now sockless. If you're looking for an alternative to mechanical filtration in your sump, there are some expensive systems that run water through a fabric that does the same thing. It has two reels with one being for the clean unused fabric, and the other reel for the dirty. The system then detects when the fabric starts to clog and spins the reels to replace the dirty fabric with clean. You can look on Bulk Reef Supply's website as I know they for sure carry them. If you're feeling adventurous there may be some DIY versions of a system like that out there!

I recently stopped using a filter sock in my sump. I have a three chamber sump with macro algae and rumble in the first chamber. Second chamber has a skimmer and pump for gfo and carbon reactor. Third chamber for ATK and return pump. I guess if you have some way of exporting nutrients you could go sockless. I use macro algae and skimmer to remove nutrients.

Also depends on the amount of fish you have. I have too many fish by many people's standards. That being said, there are many more "solids" that need to be captured in a sock. Without it, they just go back into the display tank. Does not matter how much macro algae you have, it does not eliminate the solids. !

I don't have many now but in the end there will be too many. I'm going to do like you said and get a bigger sock

I never use socks. I do clean up the sump with a shopvac when I do a water change.

this is called a roller matt, they work great. I don't use filter socks, there is a 20 gallon tank above the sump, that I clean out, it also helps having the sump in the basement.
